Private One-on-One Coaching

I see you.

You're sick and tired of being sick and tired. You're struggling with one or more aspects of your health and your ability to be the husband, wife, mother, daughter, student, employee, or friend that you want to be is being impacted. You aren't quite sure when the last time was that you felt like you were thriving, and if you are, it's been a pretty long time. You may have been to the doctor and have had testing done, but your tests always come back "normal" and you are told that you are "fine." But you're not fine, and you know it.

According to the CDC:

An estimated 129 million people in the US have at least 1 major chronic disease (1) (eg, heart disease, cancer, diabetes, obesity, hypertension) as defined by the US Department of Health and Human Services (2). Five of the top 10 leading causes of death in the US are, or are strongly associated with, preventable and treatable chronic diseases (3). Over the past 2 decades prevalence has increased steadily, and this trend is expected to continue (4). An increasing proportion of people in America are dealing with multiple chronic conditions; 42% have 2 or more, and 12% have at least 5 (5).

I, too, have experienced a merry-go-round of mysterious chronic health problems, and what led me out of my situation was not the Western allopathic medical model, as helpful as it can be in acute situations. What changed my trajectory and got me my life back was Functional Medicine.

But what is functional medicine?

Functional medicine is a system which gives us an understanding of how genetics, environment, diet, and lifestyle choices are all impacting our health. It teaches us how the different systems of our bodies are interconnected and working together at any given moment to create our current health reality. Functional medicine gives us the ability and confidence to leverage every tool at our disposal to fight back against the decades of crap food, toxins, and stress that put our body's protective mechanisms into overdrive and cause us to feel chronically ill. Functional medicine, along with my own grit and determination to do what it took to heal, allowed me to reclaim my health and arrive at a place where I am not only thriving, but I am now dedicated to bringing this sort of incredible health turn-around to others just like you and me.

As a functional medicine coach, I do not diagnose, treat, or prescribe. As a health coach, that is out of the scope of practice of my modality. I leave that to the doctors, and I do what they are unable to do due to the constraints of their modality.

So what do I do? What I do is I sit down and get to know you and your situation very thoroughly. I look for the interconnectedness between your symptoms, help you identify what the possible root causes may be, and educate you on appropriate steps you can take to support your goals of returning to a state of wellness and vitality. Together, with your goals in mind, I will work with you to come up with a plan of action, which will help you begin to peel back the layers of dis-ease and dysfunction in your particular health situation.

The changes we will seek to implement are ones that will encourage sustainable, long-term improvements in your health. This will be no "pill for an ill" venture! While supplementation may very well play a role in your journey, without sustainable lifestyle change, you will end up right back where you began in the first place, with more ills, and different pills. My program to create a state of resilient health for you will involve:

  • Maximizing what is needed in your particular situation in order for you to heal.

  • Minimizing what is harmful for you, removing those things which are negatively impacting your health.

  • Prioritizing the creation of an environment of healing for you, physically, socially, and mentally.

This is what it looks like:

  •      We begin with a Health Coaching Discovery Call. This enables you to talk to me, and explain your particular situation and your goals. I will determine during this call if I think I can be of help to you, and you will be able to ask me any questions you believe are pertinent to your decision of whether or not to work with me.

  •      Once the health coaching contract is signed, we will engage in a very thorough intake process. You will fill out paperwork and return it to me, and will send me any pertinent records that may be helpful.

  •      We will schedule a 90 minute Intake Appointment for me to ask you clarification questions, so I can be crystal clear on what your health situation looks like. I will take all the information you give me, and begin puzzle piecing the different factors I can see playing out in your situation. This step takes time because it involves a bit of research and investigation on my part.

  •      A week later, we will meet once again for a 60-90 minute Intake Follow-up Appointment, where I will lay out for you the interconnectedness I see going on, the areas of improvement I have spotted, and your options for moving forward. I will assist you in coming up with a plan of action at this meeting which you will then begin implementing.

  •      Every week for the next 12 weeks we will follow up with each other on 30 minute health coaching calls. During these appointments, we will assess and celebrate your progress, identify and address any roadblocks you may be experiencing, and tweak your program as needed.

  •      At the end of the 12 weeks, we will do a final review of the improvements you have made, celebrate your hard work, and discuss how you will choose to move forward!

If you have decided enough is enough, and you are ready to commit to a program that will help you achieve long-term, sustainable progress in your health, then I invite you to take the very first step right now by scheduling a Health Coaching Discovery Call with me.
